SAN DIEGO -- On the heels of the Party endorsement of Councilman Carl DeMaio for San Diego mayor, Chairman Tony Krvaric today released the following statement - and polling results to back it up:
"Carl DeMaio's track record of advocating for taxpayer-centered reforms in San Diego is unmatched by any other candidate in this race, which is why the elected members of the Republican Party of San Diego County recently voted by a more than 2/3 majority to endorse his candidacy for mayor."
A memorandum (see below/attached) by John Nienstedt based on a recent poll (conducted March 1-4) places DeMaio first with 25% - more than twice as high as any of his Republican competitors - heading towards a November runoff vs. Congressman Bob Filner who gained 20% of the vote.
"We are headed towards a November runoff in the race for mayor between proven reformer Councilman Carl DeMaio and the choice of government employee labor unions Congressman Bob Filner. We urge all hard working taxpayers - regardless of party affiliation - to join with us in supporting Carl DeMaio."
"Placing the interests of taxpayers first and foremost is not a Republican or Democratic idea, but common sense which all San Diegans can agree with. To once again make San Diego 'America's Finest City' we believe it is critical to elect Carl DeMaio mayor and will lift heaven and earth to do so," Krvaric concluded.

Disclosure: Competitive Edge has been retained by the DeMaio for Mayor campaign. However these results come from a survey conducted for a third party.
